Natural Beauty that is useful every day

There is something special about taking fresh cut wood and turning it into a spoon. It becomes a special process that gives a tree new life.

I started making spoons the first of September 2019 after seeing a local spoon-maker at a mountain craft fair. I bought a wormy Maple cook spoon and that started my spoon journey. The tools are simple: Granfors Bruks carving ax, sloyd knife, drawknife, and spoon knife. No power tools! No noise. Just pulling the spoon out of the wood. I learn something from every spoon I make. Hidden knots, twists, interesting grain, all kinds of variables. All the wood I’ve used is locally found. I love to highlight the grain of each spoon.

One of my favorite things to do is carve a spoon and return it to the people who owned the wood. Everyone loves spoons and if it came from their yard, it is even more special.

As of summer 2021, I started selling them. Catch me at a local market or contact me by using the button at the bottom of the page.

Cheers,
Fin
